Addis Ababa, 20 September 2013 - “The knowledge of historic struggles, the victories thereafter and ultimately, the tales of perseverance by the people of Angola are a literary necessity for all Africans today” This was the central idea by the Former First Lady of Angola, H.E Maria Da Silva which she expressed in her meeting with the Acting Chief of Staff of the African Union Commission (AUC); Dr. Hesphina Rukatoh on Friday 20th September 2013 at 10:00 am.

This meeting was aimed at welcoming the former First Lady to the AUC officially, whereby she also presented the Chairperson’s office with gifts of goodwill including a portrait of the former President of Angola and her husband, President António Agostinho Neto as well as some of the renowned works of literature he had written in his lifetime.
Citing him as the greatest poet of their country, she pointed out that most of the books written by the former President focused on the struggles and victories of Angola as a nation, thus being beneficial to all its readers emotionally and socially. She visited the Knowledge Management Center (Library) where the books are to be presented for the benefit of all, while the portrait is to be hanged within the AUCC Public Atrium.
