The fundraising event of 2008 be held in London at Marlborough House on September 12. There were lots of prizes, continuous dancing, supper and an all inclusive bar for £35/ticket. The Sakama Ngoma Troup was there to intertain the diplomats

The event in commemoration of Nigeria’s 48th Independence Anniversary is aimed at engaging Nigerians in Diaspora and the international community for a discourse of the 7 point agenda (Education, Food Security and Agriculture, Land Reform, Power and Energy, Wealth creation and Employment, Transport and Security) of the present Federal Government under President Umaru Musa Yaradua (GCFR) as a way of maximising the huge resources available in the country for development.
