The ‘Touch the Future 2008 - 2012 Capital Campaign’ is rooted in addressing the issues of the nation. While this campaign will not cure all that ails the country, once realised, it will change the lives of the hundreds of thousands it touches and usher in the prospect of a better future.
Funds raised will go to build, staff and equip a College of Health and Medical Sciences that will have schools in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, public and allied health, nursing and an African Care Sciences and Discovery Centre to support medical research. It will also include a 750- bed teaching hospital- with a 200-bed Children’s Hospital.
Funds raised will also go towards establishing a Technology Park, which will serve as a vocational community college and a Scholarship Endowment Fund to give support to gifted but poor students to enable them to access higher education.
Already launched in Nigeria and the US, the UK leg will be kick started by a gala banquet at the Hilton Hotel, Watford, on 5th October 2008 to be hosted by Gillian Joseph from Sky News and Dr. Richard de Lisser.
Guests will be treated to various presentations by Babcock’s Vice-Chancellor Prof. Makinde and members from the Babcock alumni. Performances on the night will be conducted by Adanta - African dance troupe who in the past performed for the Queen’s Jubilee.
