NOTIFICATION OF AN OUTBREAK OF TYPHOID IN KAMPALA, UGANDA

You may be aware that the Foreign & Commonwealth Office has updated the health section of its travel advice for Uganda in the light of a confirmed outbreak of Typhoid in Kampala. The relevant section of the advice reads as follows:

There is an outbreak of Typhoid in Kampala. The largest numbers of reported cases have been among people working in and around Nakasero Market, Owino Market, Kalerwe Market, the Disabled Market, Old and New Taxi Parks, Allen Road, Nabukeera Plaza, Qualicel Bus Terminal and the Total petrol station on Namirembe Road. Most of those suspected to have been infected are reported to live in the Kibuli, Namungoona, Lugoba, Kanyogoga, Bulenga and Nateete suburbs of Kampala suburbs and areas of Wakiso neighbouring Lubaga Division.

Where relevant, Partnerships should take steps to ensure the safety of staff or volunteers who may be affected by this outbreak, to ensure their safety.
