Netherlands Permanent Representative presents letter of Credence to the AU Chairperson

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,  February, 2014: The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, H.E. Mrs. Lidi Remmelzwaal, on Tuesday 25 February 2014, presented her letter of credence to the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma.

During an audience following the presentation, the new Permanent Representative commended the visionary leadership, strategic partnership and quality implementation drive of the AU Commission’s Chairperson. She also lauded the AU’s steadfast engagement in issues of peace and security, particularly its full engagement in the ongoing challenges in the Central African Republic and South Sudan.

She also encouraged the sustained collaboration between the AU and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) in resolving the crisis in South Sudan.

Dr. Dlamini Zuma welcomed the Ambassador, and stated her commitment to continue working together in furtherance of their common interests. She noted the commitment of the African Union to ensure quality implementation of its programmes, in order to deliver on the vision of the founders of the organisation, and most importantly, to bequeath the next generation with a prosperous, integrated and peaceful continent.

Ambassador Lidi Remmelzwaal comes to Ethiopia after gathering experience working in many African countries including, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo, Mozambique and Zambia.
