World Travel Market week runs from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th November.
The Ethiopian Embassy will be holding two exciting events during the week.
Come along and meet one of Ethiopia’s foremost jazz musicians, Mulatu Astatke, who will give an illustrated talk at the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) on Wednesday 7th November at 7pm.
Mulatu was one of the leading musicians in Addis Ababa in the 1960’s and ‘70’s and his contribution to modern jazz and jazz fusion is legendary. But in this talk he will also examine Ethiopia’s contribution to western classical music and a wide range of modern music – from Bach to Beyonce!
Mulatu will be accompanied by award-winning dance troupe Dankira.
Doors open at 6pm when you can view an exhibition of exquisiteHipstamatic photos taken by Lisa Bentinck on her recent visit to Ethiopia, over a complimentary Ethiopian beer.
After the lecture there will be a reception at the Ethiopian Embassy with more music, dance, Ethiopian food and drink and the coffee ceremony. (Waiting list only).
