Midwife in Darfur looking after a woman in a local clinic
Imagine giving birth with no medical help...
Ten years since the humanitarian crisis hit and we started working in Darfur, a shocking two million people are still living in camps and in need of aid.
CAFOD’s partner Norwegian Church Aid have been running clinics that offer ante and post-natal care for women. This service is hugely important as women are often giving birth inside their small makeshift homes, with no access to a doctor or midwife.

“We can spot complications early on in the pregnancy, as well as teach women about the danger signs to look out for", says midwife Toma, who delivers fifteen to twenty babies a month.
