G4S guards to be charged for killing Mr Mubenga – Mon 7 April

Contact: Sara Callaway, Women of Colour GWS.  0207 482 24960207 482 2496

Some of our members are going to the hearing to support the family and because what happened to Jimmy Mubenga could happen to us.  Women in our network have suffered assaults in detention and violent deportations.  We want to keep up pressure for corporate manslaughter charges against G4S, and for the government to revoke their contracts.

10am Monday 7 April

Westminster Magistrates Court

181 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5BR

Finally, after 3 ½ years, the three G4S guards responsible for Mr Mubenga’s death are due to be charged with manslaughter, following the Inquest verdict of “unlawful killing”.  They are due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court this Monday, 7 April.  Some of our network are going to support the family and keep the pressure up.  Meet 9.30am prompt outside the court (it’s likely to be a very short hearing). Please let your networks know and ask them to sign and circulate the Jimmy Mubenga petition.
