Conservatives

Ayoub,

Our immigration system is broken – and we will fix it.

We will ensure it reflects the values and the wishes of the majority of Britons.

Because for too long, too many politicians were indifferent to public opinion about this issue.

And now the British people simply want the firm and fair immigration system they have voted for.

One that welcomes those most in need of sanctuary and slams the door on dangerous criminals.

That’s why today I set out my vision for an immigration overhaul to deliver on the people’s priorities >>

Home Secretary - New Plan for Immigration

We have already made substantial progress:

✅
Ending free movement

✅ Introducing a points-based immigration system

✅ Publishing our new plan for immigration to break the business model of people smuggling gangs

✅ Removing 800 foreign national offenders this year

✅ Announcing greater powers for Border Force to stop small boats

✅ Introducing our global talent route for leaders in key fields like science and medicine

But we are relentless in our pursuit for improvements.

So Ayoub, summed up in one sentence, what’s next for immigration is wholesale reform of the system.

Anything short of that would not be fair, would not keep our country safe, and would not meet the demands of the British people whom I serve.

Who simply want an approach to immigration that is fair but firm.

And – at long last - finally have one.

Yours sincerely,
