Senior Policy Advisor – Food Security and Climate Change

Contract: 2 Years Fixed Term
Salary: £38,500 pa
Location: Birmingham or London



We are recruiting a Senior Policy Advisor – Food Security and Climate Change to ensure that Islamic Relief’s global policies and strategy bring a positive impact to food security and climate change and related issues, together plus a deep understanding of how this affects people we serve in fragile states in Africa, the Middle East and S.Asia. At a policy level engage with all leading institutions, stakeholders and mobilisation of communities in the North and South using faith based values and teachings.

The candidate must be dynamic and motivated with a desire for change and an in-depth understanding of policy development and research processes, especially food security and climate change within the humanitarian aid field. The Job Holder should have the capacity to produce well researched and written analysis, plus additional language i.e French, and Arabic is an advantage. S(H)e must have strong interpersonal skills and be to work effectively in a multi-cultural team, and work under pressure to obtain deadlines. A post graduate degree would be an advantage, substantial work experience will be considered.
